Awesome Asheville

What a beautiful day! We woke up this morning to the soothing strains of our son's wailing (nothing new). Daddy went in to say hi, and James immediately demanded "momma!". Well, momma came in, and then he demanded Grandaddy.. and didn't give a hoot about momma. We got ready, and hit the road around 9ish.
Our first stop was at Ray-Len vineyards to sample their wares. Yum! Awesome wine, super-nice people, beautiful vineyard, and they make furniture out of their old wine barrels that's bee-ay-ootiful. We may have to pick something up.
We then headed onto Asheville, and arrived around 3ish. We checked in, and decided to check out Biltmore. The house was closed for the day, but the winery was still open. The line moved pretty quickly, there was a 6 min video, and then it was a self-guided tour of the winery itself. At the end was a HEE-YOOGE tasting room, where we could sample like 3 or 4 of the wines they chose, then 5 more of our choosing. Needless to say, we've sampled ALOT of wine today. We're chatting it over tonight to figure out what we want to buy when we go back.
Dinner was at a cool little place in downtown Asheville called Barley's Taproom and Grill. We had some very good beer, and some rockin' pizza! We're now stuffed to the gills, pooped, and chilling in the hotel room.
A tip: the package deal we booked through the Biltmore website included 2 nights at the hotel and admittance to the Biltmore estate for the duration of our stay.. 3 days. When you consider how much wine they let you sample, and how much it normally costs just for 1 day, it's a total steal! Thus far, we recommend it highly! Bonus: Hampton Inn has hot chocolate and cookies at night!

I should also mention that after we got here (when we drove back over to Biltmore), we noticed that it looked very hazy and we smelled smoke. When we tried to come here 5 yrs or so ago, we got snowed out (a very long story, but basically we stayed overnight then fled the next morning to avoid being snowbound), and all we could think when we saw the smoke was "crap.. NOW the place is on FIRE!". Turns out they were doing a controlled burn in TN in the woods.. the smoke just travelled quite a bit. Whew!
