Annoucement

The Woodruff Family is happy to present our newest family members:

Merle:
and
Blue:

Their names come from their coloring, they're referred to as "blue merle", hence the names!
We adopted these 6wk-old cuties from the Sandhill Beagle Rescue in Pinetops, NC. It's run by the nicest lady, Ann, who just loves beagles and does alot for some doggies in need. If you're looking for one of your own or a worthwhile charity this holiday season, I would strongly recommend this one!
They are DARLING little guys, James is smitten like a kitten, and even Newkie is tolerating them so far. Welcome home, little fellas!

The ravages of time

So if you don't already know, earlier this year I had to go to physical therapy to correct a problem with my hip. Alright, with *my hip*..yes, it makes me sound old! Damnit. Whatever, anyhoo, somehow my hip got out of alignment because I'm so amazingly flexible (ha!) and apparently that makes it easy for my hip to pop right out of place. Gross, right? It gets better. It actually got popped BACK into place, and then I had to do a bunch of exercises to strengthen the muscles around it and keep it there (on the plus side, PT was so much cheaper and more effective than a gym membership..the exercises WORK!).
Anyhoo, a few weeks back I was doing yard work, and I felt it go again (yes, I felt my hip go, laugh if you must). I couldn't get it back myself, so I had Sterling yank it back into place. It's exactly what it sounds like, he grabbed my ankle and jerked it. There was Pop! as it popped out and back into the right spot, followed by total relief... from me. Sterling looked like someone had just forced him to touch someone's insides. He all but threw my leg back at me, his eyes bugged out of his head, and he said, "THAT IS THE GROSSEST THING I'VE EVER SEEN/HEARD. IF THAT HAPPENS AGAIN, YOU NEED TO GO *BACK* TO THAT DR BECAUSE I AM NEVER DOING THAT AGAIN!"
So I did a quick run this morning, and slyly mentioned, "man, my hip's a little sore, I might need you to pop it for me". He didn't even blink, he just replied, "then you'd better tie a rope to your ankle and throw yourself out the window 'cause there's no way I'm doing that again", and left the room.

Ahh.. good times!

Don't you just love the things your children choose to share with you? James and I were leaving Target (of course) and as he gets in the car, he lets out a burp, followed by "excuse me!", followed by an absolute FIT of giggles. I asked what was so funny, and he said, "that made me think of the HUGE burp I made in the hallway today when we were walking to art class!", and continued to crack up for another minute. Wow.. *that* was the highlight of the day, eh?

Happy Halloween!

Man! It was 80 degrees here on Halloween, can you STAND it? It was a boo-tiful evening, and we had a great time! James got so many compliments on his costume, and our neighbors are more than generous with the candy! We temporarily hung the porch swing and hung out with neighbors on the back deck after James went to bed, enjoying the not-so-fall weather, it was great! Next day was in the 50s and drizzly!
Here are some pics we took throughout the day, carving our pumpkin (which yielded seeds that we roasted AND rind that we made into some yummy pumpkin muffins!), and scoring some candy. Busy day!!!
